Wayfinding: Navigating the Physical and Graphic Space of the Photobook

$800.00

It is not uncommon for a photographer or artist to have the desire to apply their images into the book format, but where do we begin this process? Further still, once we have created a layout, how do we go about printing and producing that which we see on the screen into a physical book? Often daunting and confusing, knowing where to start can be paralyzing for many who dream of seeing their work spread across the pages of a book or zine. To materialize a book or zine is to create a very personal and tactile experience; with this program, we will explore and investigate both the graphic strategies and practical production methods for developing your project from photographs to finished maquette, self-published book or zine. This online course will consist of weekly meetings that will focus on the individual aspects of the photobook with an emphasis on theory, practice and critique - during each section we will take time to dig deeper into the reading of images in the book form, the relationship of photographs to pages and dissecting the physicality of books as objects.
