About the Award
The inaugural Susan McLaughlin Risograph Photobook Award supports the work of artists, printers, and publishers in working with the risograph process.
The submitted photobooks will become part of Penumbra’s unique Risograph Photobook Collection.

Call for publications: June 22nd – July 31st, 2026
Deadline: Book submissions must be postmarked by July 31st, 2026

Submission Specifics:
The following information is required for all submissions:
1 copy of a risograph photobook produced between July 2024 –
July 2026.Title

Photographer/ artists
Printer
Collaborators (if applicable)
Graphic Designer (if applicable)
A printed copy of the submission form must be included with the book.
Eligibility:
A photobook is a book where photography is giving the context of the narrative or content.
Books must have been made between July 2024 – July 2026.
Books are not restricted by subject matter or theme.
Artists, publishers, and books can be from anywhere in the world.
Applications made by the printer or publisher must be authorized by the artist/ author.
Applicants are responsible for shipping costs.
For international applicants, all books must be sent as donations with no commercial value declared.
Books must meet the criteria of the call to be included in the Collection.
Books printed at the Penumbra Risograph Residency are not eligible.
Award:
$5,000 award.
The recipient of the award and shortlisted photobooks will be presented during In The Fold, Penumbra’s annual photobook forum.
The recipient and shortlisted photobooks will be featured online.
